Richard Schneider, MSN/MBA, Adult Geriatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, certified Wound and Ostomy Nurse received his bachelor’s in nursing from Sonoma State University, his master’s in nursing from University of Virginia, and his specialty certification in Wound and Ostomy care from MD Anderson, Texas.
He lives and works in rural Northern California. He has 18 years’ experience as a certified Wound and Ostomy nurse and 6 years as a Nurse Practitioner. He has a wide breadth of work experience including at an academic medical center, in critical access hospitals, primary care clinics, home health, and skilled nursing facilities.
While working at University of Virginia he specialized in treating patients with Fournier’s Gangrene. Current special interests are lower extremity lymphedema, care of ostomy patients in rural and limited access areas, and managing diabetic foot ulcers.
He has precepted 17 WOC students, has served as a peer reviewer of the WOCN Society’s Standard and Scope of Practice 3rd Edition, and a peer reviewer of the WOCN Society’s 2023 Guidelines for Management of Wounds in Patients with Lower Extremity Arterial Disease.
He lives in Redwood Valley, CA with his wife and 3 sons. He enjoys spending time with his family hiking, camping, vegetable gardening and growing fruit trees.
