Jan Colwell is a retired WOC advanced practice nurse who managed and provided care to patients with ostomies and wounds at the University of Chicago Hospitals. She has contributed to the field of ostomy and wound care in several ways as president of the WOCN Society, leading several ostomy related research projects and multiple publications. She is the current chair of the WOCN National Conference Planning Committee.
