(S06) Breakfast Symposia - Multilayer Foam Dressings in Practice: Evidence Based Strategies for Preventing and Treating Hospital Acquired Pressure Injuries
Time: 7:00 AM to 8:15 AM
Description
Hospital-Acquired Pressure Injuries (HAPI) are a growing concern, often resulting in higher treatment costs, increased readmission rates, and the development of additional hospital-acquired conditions. Nurses must navigate the complexities of selecting appropriate foam dressings to prevent and treat these injuries. This program will explore the use of multilayer foam dressings for both prevention and treatment, incorporating interactive sessions that enable participants to apply their newly acquired knowledge to real-world, case-based scenarios.
This session is supported by Smith+Nephew.
(This activity is not accredited for nursing Contact Hours)
Learning Outcome
1. Analyze the clinical and financial impact of hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPIs) to determine how multilayer foam dressings can support prevention and treatment strategies.
2. Differentiate among types of foam dressings and evaluate their appropriate use based on patient needs, wound characteristics, and risk factors.
3. Apply evidence‑based principles to real‑world, case‑based scenarios to select and implement multilayer foam dressings effectively for both prevention and treatment of HAPIs.
