Marc Singer, M.D. is a Professor within the Division of Colon & Rectal Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center. Dr. Singer completed his undergraduate education at Washington University in St. Louis where he received a bachelor’s degree in biology with honors. He then matriculated at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. In 1997, he received his MD as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He remained at the University of Illinois for his general surgery residency. During this time, Dr. Singer entered into a research fellowship under the mentorship of Drs. Herand Abcarian and Jose Cintron. After completing his general surgery training in 2005, Dr. Singer then returned to Washington University in order to complete his Colon and Rectal Surgery Residency at Barnes Hospital under the direction of Dr. James Fleshman. Upon completing his training, Dr. Singer returned to the University of Illinois Medical Center where he served as the Director of the Pelvic Floor Center, conducted numerous clinical trials, and participated in the education of Colon and Rectal surgery residents. In 2009, Dr. Singer joined the faculty of the NorthShore University Health System, where he continued to grow his practice, and care for patients with colon and rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, benign anorectal conditions, and pelvic floor disorders. In July 2014, Dr. Singer joined the faculty of the Section of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Rush University Medical Center. He maintained a strong interest in clinical research and participated in multiple trials. In addition, Dr. Singer served as the director for Continuing Medical Education for the Section, as well as the site director for the Stroger Colorectal Surgery training program. Most recently, in 2017, Dr. Singer joined the faculty at Loyola University Medical Center. He continues to be an active participant in the surgical residency. In addition, he serves as the medical director of the outpatient clinic, and the regional director of the Enhanced Recovery program for the Loyola University Health System. Dr. Singer has also serves as the executive director of the Chicago Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
