Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse

Erin started her nursing career at the Burn Center at Johns Hopkins Bayview and furthered her education as a Certified Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse. She then moved to New York City to work with complex surgical wounds and develop a continuum of patient care from inpatient to outpatient with the Global Center for Integrated Colorectal Surgery for over ten years.

Erin completed her Master's degree at the Columbia School of Nursing, educates as a clinical nursing instructor, currently volunteers as Chair of the WOCN National Member Engagement Taskforce, and was elected President for the Northeast Chapter/ WOCN Affiliate. She belongs to a Global Ostomy Advisory Board and The Global Research into Intestinal Failure and Fistulae (GRIFF) Collaborative taskforce.

Erin has a published chapter on stomal complications in Corrective Endoscopy and Surgery in Inflammatory Bowel and Colorectal Diseases: Advanced Management of Complications (2025). Was interviewed by the WOCN Society's podcast, WOC Talk", to discuss their unique role in continent ileostomy, K-Pouch care. Most recently, Erin with their colleagues, Vanessa Marra and Kenneth Autencio, has formed the first Continent Ileostomy Support Group for New York-Presbyterian/ Columbia Medical Center."
