Cecilia Zamarripa’s WOC nursing career began in 1986, graduating from the Jewish Hospital (then named) an ETNEP. CeCe graduated with her first nursing degree, a BSN from the University of Texas, Arlington in 1982, an MSN in 2008 and PhD Nursing in 2021, both at Duquesne University. CeCe is a leader in the WOC Nursing specialty and is known for her mentorship, excellent clinical skills managing complex ostomy and fistulas, managing peristomal skin complications, and clinical research exploring pressure injury prevention technologies, risk of ostomy pouching system leakage, and support surfaces. She serves as the Manager of the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing department at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Her WOC clinical practice experience includes inpatient/outpatient ostomy consultations, and inpatient pressure and non-pressure related wound care consultations. CeCe has shared her WOC Nursing fistula, ostomy, and pressure injury research and expertise experiences via manuscript, podium and poster presentations.
