(S08) Breakfast Symposia - Keeping the Track Dry: Causes of Fecal Incontinence in the Critically Ill & Protocols for Irritant Contact Dermatitis Related to Fecal Incontinence & Pressure Injury Prevention
Time: 7:00 AM to 8:15 AM
Description
Fecal incontinence is common among critically ill patients in the ICU and can quickly contribute to skin breakdown, higher infection risk, and avoidable complications that affect quality of care. In this presentation, we will examine why fecal incontinence and ICU-related diarrhea occur, how to recognize patients at greatest risk, and how to apply practical, protocol-driven care to prevent irritant contact dermatitis and reduce pressure injury risk. Join us for clinical guidance designed to help protect patient skin, preserve dignity, and support safer care at the bedside.
This session is supported by Convatec.
