Histologics LLC (Anaheim, CA) will be attending WOCNext in Las Vegas this June 4-6th to exhibit its novel debridement and wound biopsy devices, already used by gynecologic experts including NP's who do cervix biopsies using the identical Kylon® fabric (1.5 M in the USA to date). These are intended to gently remove tissue either for hygiene all the way to "excisional" methods when the hooked Kylon® brush array converts to micro-curettes when pressed firmly into tissue. The scope of practice of most nurse clinicians vary from basic wound care to the most advanced surgical procedures where necrotic wound tissue must be mechanically or surgically removed. The cause of some wounds not to heal includes biofilm, and the Kylon® fabric devices can be used to obtain true tangential biopsy samples from the debrided wound base for lab testing. This is done with the SoftBiopsy® product solely used for biopsy.
Histologics has recently released SoftBiopsy®+D which is more durable and can sustain longer procedure time to do debridement as well as biopsy. We have previously demonstrated our Soft K-Rette® device to debride and sample crevice wounds, and Soft K-Cot® deployed on the finger for "Compassionate Debridement at Your Fingertips®".
