Description
Understanding and applying evidence based care to feet is an overlooked opportunity for skilled nursing to provide exceptional care that prevents adverse outcomes such as falls and wounds from happening. Foot health is paramount to quality of life but is often overlooked or misunderstood. The care of feet allows the nurse to utilize a multitude of skills including education, therapeutic touch, restoration of dignity and ongoing trusted therapeutic relationships. This type of nursing care meets the triple aims of the IHI. It translates into cost savings from a health care usage perspective and better patient outcomes. This presentation is about seeing the opportunity and the story behind developing it out into a sound business practice.
